Donna visited us in class today, along with another Grade 5 student from Ms. Parry’s class. For those of you who don’t know Donna, she is our Aboriginal Enhancement Worker. And she is wonderful. One of Donna’s favourite activities is weaving. She showed us some of the beautiful things she has weaved using wool, pine needles and cedar bark.

While the students were weaving, in close proximity of each other, I couldn’t help but think about the importance of slowing down the pace, of taking the time to talk and listen to each other.

Weaving is fun! I hope your child will have the opportunity to teach you how at home as well.

  1. Fantastic – Donna is a great resource, and I’m glad that she shared her love of First Nations and Aboriginal learnings and art with the class. Thank you for setting that up!
