Message to all Grade 4 (and Grade 7) BC parents

Good morning Parents,

The Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) tests should begin next week or during the following one. Here is some background information about those tests. Please take the time to read it.

  1. Last year, the kids writing the tests were being pulled out while I continued teaching. I suspect the same will happen this year because I also have Gr 5 & 6 students to work with. I will continue working on projects and teaching new concepts during the time the students are being pulled out.

    These results are being used by the Fraser Institute to rank schools and they publish it in the media after. Many of our students will be opting out which will mean that the ranking of schools isn’t even representative of the reality.

    Printing the letter and sending it to me is best as I will know how many students will be gone.

  2. How does this work? Do the test taking kids leave the classroom if most opt out?

    Does the low or high results impact Strath in any way financially?

    Do we email Harj or print the BCTF letter and hand it in the office?
