Recycling, Livromanie and School Blog

Recycling, Livromanie and School Blog

Good morning! I have some great news to share with you. I’m sure there are a lot more than this but those are the only ones I can think of at the moment.

1. Starting this morning, four Grade 6 students will be visiting classes to introduce the “Juice Box Recycling Program” at our school. These students took the initiative to prepare signs and organise recycling containers to go in each class so that the program can run smoothly.

2. Next week, Division 3 students from JQ will meet Division 1 students from Trafalgar to participate in a “Combat des livres” (aka Battle of the Books). The event will take place over two days and each class will be visiting each other on these days.

We just finished reading a series of French novels from the Livromanie program and are very excited to prepare for this event. The dates for these two meetings are Wednesday February 8 (am) and Friday February 10 (pm).

To discuss their books, students are using Edmodo. As mentioned in a previous post, Edmodo is a secure social learning network for teachers and students. It is similar to Facebook but made especially for schools so that students can learn how to interact respectfully and appropriately with each other. Ask your child about your parent code if you’re curious!

3. One Division 3 student got his first article published on the school blog. Congratulations Tyson!

To increase traffic on the school blog, I’ve offered a few students the chance to write articles to be published and read by the JQ community. There is currently something in the making and I’ll let you know as soon as it’s completed.

Thanks again for your continuous support. I have such a wonderful class (parents and students) this year and I’m very grateful for it.

I leave you with a short clip shared by Sarah. Enjoy!
